Meet Your Therapist

Hello! My name is Allison and I am creator of Flowing With Growth Psychotherapy. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, were I grew up a cheerleading preacher’s kid. I attended Johnson C. Smith University, a small HBCU in Charlotte, NC and earned my Bachelors degree in Social Work. Once I graduated, I moved to the Atlanta area in 2004. I worked for several years before deciding to earn my Masters degree in Social Work at Georgia State University in 2010. I went back earned my Masters in Family Therapy from Mercer University.

I have worked in a variety of settings and diverse populations which include homeless veterans with co-occurring disorders, community and inpatient mental health, hospice and medical social work, pediatric emergency services, and crisis EAP work with many companies throughout the Metro Atlanta area.

I love all things astrology, true crime, and “reality” TV. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Types of Therapy

  • Individual Therapy

    Individual therapy allows you to work with me on a one-on-one basis to help develop a plan to reach your therapeutic goals. You will be able to confidentially talk through your problems or situations in a safe space, free of judgment. Individuals often come to therapy for reasons such as (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief and loss, trauma related concerns, unhealthy or difficult family dynamics, relationship issues, school or career concerns.

  • Family Therapy

    Families decide to come to therapy as a unit to discuss a variety of issues and concerns that are impacting the entire family system. Because of the unique and sometimes complex dynamics of families, there will be individual and 2-person sessions (ex. siblings, parents only, parent-child) held throughout the therapeutic process. Some of the reasons families come to therapy include illness of a family member, enmeshment and boundary issues, trauma, family secrets, sibling conflicts, blended and/or non-traditional families, divorce and parenting concerns, and adult children and parent conflicts.

The Office Space

In person sessions are available by request for individual and families residing in the Metro Atlanta area. Sessions will be provided at an office space utilized by a variety of mental health clinicians. The office space is located on Mason Mill Road in Decatur, minutes from Emory University and Hospital.
